Remember, that an UTF-8 enabled font will be necessary for displaying e.g. aptitude´s line drawing. The following lines should do the trick:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\Sessions\Default%20Settings]
“LineCodePage”=”UTF-8″
“TerminalType”=”linux”
“Font”=”Lucida Console”
