Project
The Problem
Modern line-of-business applications tend towards always higher integration, size and complexity. This causes rising costs and risks when developing individual solutions from scratch; in turn this means integrated, innovative and tailored software becomes prohibitively expensive, especially for the smaller players whose flexibility would profit the most from a similarily flexible foundation.
Looking closer, three quarter or more of the actual programming effort are devoted to ever recurring themes such as database access, graphical user interface, or the ever popular customer relationship management. While being necessary for a stable and functional application, they are not directly supporting the core competencies of their users.
Vision
Our goal is to develop an application platform encompassing all development tasks from the database to the client. This includes SQL-schema management and migration, data access layer generation, access controls, an application server, desktop and web based clients, and a module system. On top of this we plan to provide core business data modules (like addressbooks, inventory management and so on) allowing developers to concentrate on their business logic; thus being more efficient and providing better value to the end-user.
